- 180 ml hot water
- 45 ml dark rum
- 1 whole clove
- ½ star anise
- 1–2 teaspoons brown sugar (or to taste)
- Whipped cream for topping (optional)

Let it bubble lightly for 3–4 minutes to extract the coffee and let the spices infuse into the liquid. Add the RumRemove the pot from heat. Stir in 1½ ounces (45 ml) of dark rum and let the mixture sit for about 30 seconds, allowing the alcohol to warm without boiling off the aroma. Strain and ServePour the hot coffee mixture through a fine mesh strainer into your favorite mug, catching the spices and coffee grounds.
